Berlin, juin 1990. Au lendemain de la chute du Mur, la réunification s’annonce – avec son lot d’espoirs et de déconvenues. Dans l’espoir d’en déloger les nouveaux occupants – une famille fidèle au régime com-muniste –, il campe régulièrement dans une caravane qu’il a garée sur le trottoir d’en face, au risque de mettre son propre couple en péril. Mais quand Katja tombe nez à nez avec le jeune fils de la famille honnie, le beau Thorben, tous deux n’ont bientôt d’yeux que l’un pour l’autre... Alors que le conflit entre les deux familles s’envenime, les tourtereaux, déçus par les errements des adultes, se rencontrent en secret sur le sable du “no man’s land” qui sépare encore les pans de mur détruits.
